U.S. media, including Fox Sports, reported on the 23rd (Korea time) that Rivera and his wife Clara Rivera were involved in a lawsuit for hiding sexual violence at their home and church camps.

Rivera has retired and is a Protestant pastor at a church near New York.

According to Fox Sports, the victim participated in a summer camp linked to a church where Rivera was trading as a senior pastor in 2018, when he was a minor

The victim informed her parents that she had been sexually abused by the same sex at the time, and the victim's mother informed Rivera's wife.

Fox Sports quoted the complaint as saying, "The victim claimed that the Rivera couple did not take sufficient action and rather urged the victim to remain silent."

The victim claimed that he was sexually abused again at a BBQ party at Rivera's mansion that year.

Rivera, who played as a closer for the New York Yankees, retired after posting a career-high 652 saves from 1995 to 2013.

He was unanimously inducted into the Hall of Fame in January 2019, and recently drew attention again when Japanese baseball hero Ichiro Suzuki failed to enter the Hall of Fame by a single vote.
